Italian Thermae, the Grand Tour 2023

Terme dei Papi S.p.a.

During medieval times, the thermal baths in Viterbo were visited by a succession of popes. The name "dei Papi" - of the Popes - derives from the intervention of a Pope, Nicholas V, who had built a splendid palace in 1450, in order to have somewhere to stay whenever he required treatment. The charming hotel inside is called Hotel Niccolò V, in memory of this Pope. Today the hotel offers 33 rooms, including 3 wonderful suites with a private thermal pool on the rooftop. Great poets and artists (like Michelangelo) have left us precious references of the baths. The Bullicame spring, with its sulfate-sulfur alkali-iron fluoride waters and its 58°C temperature, has always been highly appreciated for its therapeutic properties and applications, in particular, in the cure and prevention of chronic disturbances of the whole breathing apparatus, in bone and joint pathologies, skin complaints, genital complaints and dysmetabolic diseases. The Bullicame spring, mentioned several times in Dante's Divine Comedy, feeds all our treatments: you can experience something unique in totally natural way, choosing between many treatments like the outside monumental thermal pool (2000 sqm), the natural Grotto (thermal turkish bath), the vascular carbo-gas circuit, whirlpools, massages and beauty treatments, enriched by the extraordinary thermal mud.
